12/23/2023 0 Comments 80 days north pole left or rightI would like the world to be sufficiently able to harness renewable energy so as to not even contemplate exploiting Antarctica. It wasn’t until the centenary of the Nimrod Expedition that I thought: "Enough, I’m never gonna do this, so just get on with it." With several nations, including China, eyeing resources in the Arctic, some have speculated about Antarctica’s future as a protected wilderness? How do you see the continent’s future? I looked on the negative side like a lot of people do when they’re contemplating a bold and dangerous project. I think it’s about having the balls to take that first step, to commit to something big. I’ve looked back on it quite often and thought ‘why the hell didn’t I do this sort of thing when I was in my 20’s and 30’s?’ Well, I was in the army, I had a job, but you can always find a way. Why did you wait until so late in life to undertake these polar expeditions? Your first expedition to the South Pole was in 2007, and you were 48 at the time. Another reason I’m undertaking this expedition is to leave a financial legacy to benefit wounded soldiers through a charity called the Endeavor Fund. And I think it would be a great thing for the world to know more about what kind of man he was. For the whole of my 36-year career in the army, which I just retired from two weeks ago, I never stopped aspiring to emulate Shackleton’s leadership qualities. Since I was a child I’ve been fascinated with the history of polar exploration, perhaps in part because Frank Worsley, Captain of the Endurance, is a distant cousin of mine. Why is a human-powered crossing of Antarctica relevant today? Is there any benefit to humankind? Scott might have well frowned on the use of kites, yet Amundsen would use as many dogs as he could, I expect, and not care what anyone said. Maybe it’s a British thing not to use kites. What he did was amazing, and I’m not worthy to clean his shoes, but he did use a kite. And I’ve been in touch with him about his route and itinerary. But didn’t the Norwegian explorer Børge Ousland make the first solo-unsupported crossing of Antarctica in 1996-97? They will be dropped off at Quebec City after some delay. Please be respectful of copyright. If they are found innocent by the council, they will stay on the Kahwoka Othunwe which is heading towards Quebec City anyway. This will unlock the achievement "Barrelling Forward!" If Passepartout manages to fly the gyrocopter, he and Fogg will quickly fly to New York. If Passepartout fails to fly the gyrocopter, he and Fogg will crash into Niagara Falls and drift to Quebec City. Passepartout and Fogg will then attempt to escape from Kahwoka Othunwe via a gyrocopter. If Passepartout tells the truth to the council but his character is not stylish enough, lies to the council but his character is not skillful enough, or is in possession of Whisky and offers some to the Sioux leader en route to the Kahwoka Othunwe, then they will be found guilty. Once on the floating village, Passepartout and Fogg stand before a council which either finds them guilty as Whisky traders or not. This will unlock the achievement "Aboard the Kahwoka Othunwe". Passepartout must pocket the device and board the "Crimson Thunder" airship to Toronto.Īlong the way, a group of Sioux will detect the device and take Passepartout and Fogg to the Kahwoka Othunwe under the suspicion that they are Whisky traders. Regardless of what Passepartout chooses to do, he will be forced into the conflict and come across a Mystery Device dropped out of the Cree boy's pocket. There, Passepartout will see a Cree boy being picked on by 3 First Nations men for selling whiskey. To visit Kahwoka Othunwe, Passepartout must explore Calgary or Regina. It is not necessary to hear these rumors to get to Kahwoka Othunwe. Along the way, waiters will gossip about a floating village being spotted in the skies above Regina. Kahwoka Othunwe is mentioned on the Canadian Pacific Railway near Regina. It is a floating village that is home to various groups of Aboriginal people and is accessible while travelling through Canada. Kahwoka Othunwe is a hidden location and transportation in 80 Days.
